SDS Grey Water Large Scale Recycling System

Key Benefits
Grey Water Large Scale Recycling System
Reusing wastewater, i.e. water that has been collected primarily from showers, baths and bathroom sinks, is a crucial part of the sustainable management of water resources and can reduce mains water consumption by up to 40%.
Installing a grey water recycling system is a great alternative to more traditional sustainable measures, offering an effective solution with no reliance on rainwater.
SDS supplies fully automated Grey Water On Demand Recycling Systems to deliver a consistent supply of treated grey water to meet a site’s required daily volume. The composition of these systems varies according to the volume and source of grey water that can be collected and the capacity to reuse the treated grey water.

How Does It Work?
Water that has been used for showering or bathing is captured and collected and, following specialised filtration, is fed back into the property for use in non-potable purposes such as flushing toilets, irrigation of green areas, cleaning windows and laundry washing. The treatment processes ensure that the filtration provides a fixed barrier to waterborne viruses and pathogens, meeting required quality standards.
SDS provides the choice of two Grey Water Recycling systems which have been optimised to meet the requirements of either higher, or lower, demand volumes of water. Both systems operate on a fast treatment principle to meet demand quickly and reduce the need for large storage tanks. The larger scale system is typically specified where demand volume exceeds around 8,000 to 10,000 litres per day, for example in an establishment such as a large hotel, student accommodation or large residential blocks, due to the nature of their water use supply versus demand equilibrium. The system uses a disc filter and hollow fibre ultrafiltration membrane, together with oxidant and sodium hypochlorite dosing incorporating an automatic backwash process, to ensure the highest level of water quality.
